Days in the Yard

When we moved to the Rental, the yard looked like this.

We first started with some lawn repair and mulching the back under the trees.

We repaired the fence and built a planter around this random plant with left over cinder blocks

I love to hang outside with the kids so we decided to put a patio in.
The patio had to be something removable in case the owners wanted it gone when we leave.
This is what we came up with.

We removed the odd lack of flower bed and framed out a large 8 X 10 rectangle with 2 X 4's, using L shaped brackets to hold it in place.

We filled the frame with pea gravel, over filling slightly.

We also collected random bricks through-out the yard and made a wall to cover the air conditioning unit.  YES, there were that many random bricks !

We saved the grass for sodding the empty spots in the yard.

I purchased an 8 X 10 outdoor rug and covered the top of the pea gravel.

I purchased the umbrella at Walmart (I'm not totally happy with the size of it) but I know we will move again in 18 months, I didn't want to purchase something really expensive that wouldn't work in the next house.

I plan to pressure wash the bricks but I need to wait for the kiddos to get back into school.

So here it is one more time

The whole project cost about 375.00 dollars and ONE day of work, SO worth it !

Thanks for looking ;)

  8. Such a simple solution anyone can do, but it makes a huge impact. I think your landlord would want to keep it. It looks really good and would be a great selling point!
